Bocce

every day i take mother for a walk and then watch
friends play bocce.
yesterday a friend sat on a bench nearby
and was talking to me about
a song he was practicing for karaoke that contained my name.
Then he mumbled that he was wondering if he had a
chance with me,
 at which he promptly jumped up
and ran back to the game.
This is the fourth time this year i have been asked
this by a man here- why now ??
